They are a huge fan of Strictly and love dancing around in front of the TV, trying to copy the moves. They are either super confident and dancing at any given opportunity or very shy and introverted when around others. They would love to learn the proper steps and even dance with a partner. They may be a little overweight and spend more time than you'd like indoors on gadgets. They are not a fan of team sports and lack self-confidence when it comes to PE. Their posture is stooped, and they round their shoulders.
We want every child to fulfil their potential as a confident, happy, dancer. Students are encouraged to work together as a team, to make friends, express themselves and be creative. With the use of capes, bean bags, chiffon scarves, musical instruments and even footballs, children develop good coordination, rhythm, musicality and timing.
Ballroom dancing will improve their posture, strengthen their muscle tone, help them burn calories and improve their self-confidence.
A shy child may prefer to watch their first class with their mum, until they feel ready to start participating. This is absolutely fine. It is wonderful watching a shy child start to come out of their shell and start participating confidently in performances.
Children are encouraged to participate in an end of term performance to family and friends, along with several shows throughout the year at local venues. We also have a party and bring a friend week, so children can share their love of dancing with their friends.
Children will learn the Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso doble, Jive, Samba, Salsa, Quickstep, Waltz and Foxtrot.
